I arrived in Bologna with few clear thoughts and a camera held tightly in my hands. I wasn’t looking for a specific theme, I didn’t want to construct anything. I just wanted to walk, observe, and feel the rhythm of the city moving before me.
I let myself be guided by chance encounters, young faces, spontaneous gestures, silent waits on the steps of an ancient square. Bologna, with its university soul and international breath, offered me a multitude of stories without the need for words.
After all, photography is also this, not asking, not explaining, but being present.
With a telephoto lens, I brought closer what was distant, trying not to break the naturalness of those moments. Some noticed me and gave me a smile, a word, a gesture. Others remained immersed in their thoughts, unaware of having become fragments of a larger narrative.
When I took the photo of the large sign “What’s the Future?”, I felt that everything, suddenly, came together, the faces, the slow walks, the silences, the smiles.
The future is not a line ahead of us. It is already inside our every step, our every hesitation. This collection is a small tribute to uncertainty, to the fragile beauty of those who cross through time without knowing it.
