The beginning of everything. This selection gathers the first paintings created by Giordano Macellari in oil on canvas, a dense and meditative technique that marked the debut of his artistic journey in the 1980s. In these works, a powerful figurative research emerges, where the human being is captured in moments of deep introspection and silent solitude. These were years of pure and febrile experimentation, where the canvas became a space to explore not only with color and these geometric, solemn forms, but also through radical gestures, such as sharp cuts on raw canvas and surfaces smoked by the heat of a candle. Shortly after, the need to indulge an immediate creative impulse and an inherently fast-paced style of painting guided him toward acrylic—a medium capable of keeping up with his character and the speed of his thought. Yet, it is here, in these first, intense oil canvases, that the roots and the original spark of his entire path reside.
